Biography

Jim was introduced to DJing by his long term friend and now partner in crime - Andy Johnson. He started out as playing just for fun, and initially didn't really have a main style he played. Commercial dance was probably the best term for it. When Jim started to go out clubbing, he discovered house music and pretty much never looked back since.

His first break in the DJing world came as he wandered past a venue in Wolverhampton which was under construction and advertising for staff. On the off chance, he rang and asked about DJ work. He ran off a demo and met the new manager outside her house and handed her said mix tape. It obviously worked as a month or so later when the club - Decadence - opened, he was doing 9 til 11pm in the bar area.

Once this residency came to an end, James joined forces with Andy Johnson and set about finding more work. Along with fellow up and coming DJ - Rich Bradbury - they came up with the brand "Jam Jar" and managed to get a Thursday at The Bank in Wolverhampton - one of the best bars in the City at the time. Things went ok, til they got their next break - the Saturday night DJ's left, and Jim, Andy and Rich were asked to move Jam Jar to the Saturday. They then became renowned in Wolverhampton for their DJing style, where they would set up 4 decks and 2 mixers and really work the crowd and offer more of a vidual experience.

Sadly, Jam Jar didn't last for ever, and it was time to move on again. It was then Jim met Ant Hartlebury and together set up Jackin Off back in 2006. The brand was launched with Grant Nelson headlining at the 52 Degrees North Nightclub in Birmingham. Along with Andy Johnson and El Funk - who make up the rest of Jackin Off - Jim has played at some of the best venues in the country and also Ibiza. He has also played many guest sets for brands in and around the Midlands as well as further afield.

In early 2008, Jim decided to take the plunge into music production. So far, Jim has really come on in leaps and bounds and you will regularly catch him dropping in some of his remixes and re-edits into his sets. He also assures us that fully original material is not too far away now either.
